Playing your sets in NL Holdem cash games, online bingo games
Successful cash game players all know that exploiting the implied odds to the maximum is where the greatest value lies in these games at william hill online. Pocket pairs carry excellent implied odds, especially if the table happens to be short handed. Many of these cash players provided theyre acting in the shadow of a large chip-stack completely reduce their strategy to set mining. Set mining is the habitual playing of small pocket pairs, solely with the purpose of hoping to be hit by a set on the flop. In order that you should really understand how set exploitation works, you need to understand the concept of implied odds. Lets consider that you are playing a pair of 6s from the cut off, with several people staying in the hand. At this moment, you are well aware of the fact that your hand is most probably not the best one at the table, but you do see the flop nonetheless hoping that youll land a set. You are also aware that you will miss your set most of the time, and only make it on a few lucky hands. It would seem like youre pouring chips into a negative EV value play. This situation if contemplated from a strictly mathematical perspective is indeed a negative EV one, but you as a skilled player know more about the nature of the game than cold-hard math does. You know that on the few occasions you fill up your set, youll take down huge pots, because your set is going to be next to impossible to read. Youre bound to get a lot of money off people on a top pair, and even more off those who hit two pairs. In the long-run, the money that you win on such hands will not only make up for all the money you spend seeing the flops in vain, itll also hit you with a nice profit. The implied odds turn this apparently negative EV setup into a positive EV one. It is theoretically possible that you will lose on your set, in case one of your opponents gets hit by an even higher set on the flop. The odds of something like that happening though are small enough to make getting all your money in on your flopped set very profitable in the long-run. Upon hitting your trips, your sole goal should be only to get as much money into the pot as possible. You want to felt an opponent or double up at the very least, so be prepared to go for the kill when the opportunity presents itself. Whether or not such set-oriented strategic approach is correct depends on a few key factors. First of all: the size of your stack. You need to be deep stacked to exploit this strategy, which means you need a minimum of 100BBs in your stack, but 200BBs is more like it. You need the large stack because: you will be spending chips on seeing all those unrewarded flops, and your stack needs to be able to take that strain. On the other hand, you need the large stack so that you can milk your sets (when you do hit them) to the max. You will only be able to take as many chips from your opponents as your stack size allows you to. This is the reason why set mining will not be a viable strategic approach in tournaments, where being deep stacked is a luxury you wont really be able to rely on. The exact way you need to play your small pairs in online casino is also dependent on a few things. On one hand, you need to put as little money into the pot preflop as possible, because you know you are going to lose the majority of that money, so you want to minimize your losses. On the other hand, in aggressive short handed games, football betting or raising preflop on your pairs gives you a much bigger spectrum of possibilities to take the pot down. Whether you mine sets as a part of your cash game strategy or not, you should always play with a rakeback deal backing you up. A rake rebate setup will open up an entirely new revenue stream for your
online blackjack effort.

He’s supported his wife and daughter through live and online cash-game winnings and has also accumulated more than $300,000 in tournament cashes. For this edition of the Strategy with Kristy podcast, brought to you by South Point, Kim talks about what it takes to be a professional poker player. Here is a snippet from the interview: The unfortunate reality of being a professional poker player is that not everyone is cut out for it. A lot of people fool themselves into thinking they can do it successfully. It’s hard. It’s difficult. People have come up to me, and maybe I’ve made it look easy in their eyes, but I tell them, “Don’t quit your day job.” If you really want to get into it, consider playing part time. See how you do after a couple of years. I’ve always stressed that your mindset, how you approach it, and attitude determines how well you do in the long run. That includes not tilting and not having an ego. You know, nowadays, and I’m not going to name any names, but there are a lot of poker players that have ego. That’s something that I’ve never really had. Poker, like any occupation, is something that you have to work hard at. It’s kind of funny because it fools you, short-term wise. A perfect example is when someone who’s not very good wins a tournament. They automatically think they are way better than they are. What ends up happening is they end up play poker tournaments, travel the circuit, or they quit their job. That’s the other thing, too… TV makes it look so glamorous. It looks like it’s easy, and people are winning millions of dollars. It’s not like that. In order to do well over the long run, you really have to have the proper mindset, and you have to understand the variance of poker. A lot of people don’t do that, and I’ve seen people come and go over the years.

Second Wave of Indictments
by Adam Marshall | May 24th, 2011 The first wave of federal indictments that took PokerStars, FullTilt, and Absolute Poker out of the U.S. market was called Black Friday. This second wave targeting sites like Doyle’s Room and TruePoker is now being called Blue Monday. The indictments came from Maryland early yesterday targeting the following sites… DoylesRoom.com TruePoker.com BookMaker.com 2Betsdi.com Funtimebingo.com GoldenArchCasino.com BetMaker.com BetGrandeSports.com Betehorse.com Beted.com Doyle Brunson formally announced his separation from Doyle’s Room earlier this month due to the current legal turmoil surrounding online poker. Obviously, a hallmark of a great player is knowing exactly when to cash in your chips. The indictments were the result of undercover work done by the Department of Homeland Security. An undercover payment processing business was created called Linwood Payment Solutions, which connected agents with executives inside those gaming operations. The covert processor made around 300,000 transactions in the meantime while tracking financial data. Of note is the fact that some of these sites operated outside the legally murky arena of online poker and in the much-more-illegal field of sports betting. Charges included money laundering and conducting an illegal gambling business but not the previous accusations of bank fraud or violations of the UIGEA. Although this attack pales in comparison to the Black Friday indictments, to some they still represent a push against poker as a whole. Others believe these to be the initial parts of the staging phase that ultimately leads to the long overdue regulation of online poker.

Reflections on the Full Tilt Poker Smear Campaign
published on 09/21/11 at 4:18 pm With all the news coming out about Full Tilt Poker and a so-called Ponzi scheme, I felt the need to say something. First, let me start by saying that Full Tilt Poker is a class organization that has treated this organization and overseas bank accounts fairly throughout the years. Howard Lederer and Jesus Ferguson are honest, trust worthy individuals. Not to mention, Rafe Furst, although he did move to Mexico, I can only say his work with charities and the Bad Beat on Cancer have garnered the utmost respect from me. Second, it is a shame to see the U.S. government stick their noses into something that was good for the poker industry, the nations economy, and an individuals self esteem. The majority of players online are terrible and just give money to the lucky few. But these players kept depositing funds into their accounts, helping my lifestyle with a variety of extravagant needs. So what a player did not know about the inner processes of Full Tilt, did not hurt them. They would never have withdrawn funds in the first place. Third, all these dopes posting about a 400 million dollar hole in Full Tilt Pokers finances, do not know one thing about international finance. 99% of their money is in overseas accounts. To get their money into U.S. accredited bank accounts takes several months, due to the Patriot Act. I believe Mr. Lederer and Mr. Ferguson are just waiting for the funds to go through the proper channels and everyone will be promptly paid. So let us stop slinging the proverbial mud at Full Tilt Poker. We need to let this show trial run its course and in the end, you shall all see that they are innocent of all charges.

Black Friday Saves One Players Money & Relationship
published on 04/23/11 at 8:54 am One person who will be saving money after Black Friday, is Steve Street3 Carse. Known to have wasted thousands of dollars on online poker sites, the recent federal take over of Full Tilt Poker will have a positive effect on Mr. Carses financial statements. Angel Valdez, of the Online Poker Team, fires some questions at Oklahomas number one degenerate. How much money have you saved since Online poker got shut down?I transferred my last $80 on FTP to Angel to bet on black at the casino. He informed me that I lost. So, I would have naturally deposited another $50 and in turn, ran that up to around $55, then lost it all. Then I would have reloaded again. I would guess since Friday, I have saved around $450. But, since I dont have online poker anymore, i am extremely bored and have since spent over $1500 on various illegal endeavors. Those intruders in their homes have names? Some call them Kids, and others call them Mom/Dad/HoneyHonestly I am scared to death about what this question means and wonder how much meth the interviewer has inhaled to come up with such a psycho question. I live with my girlfriend Kelly and I have not seen any intruders in my home. When they stepped outside did the sun melt off their skin? Did they get the vampire effect?Again, another scary question that makes about as much sense as a gaggle of coked up geese selling cookies to gimps. Is their ability to make money playing online poker myopia equal to lets say Charlie Sheen thinking hes normal?I dont know what myopia means and Im too fucking lazy to google it. Charlie Sheen has Goddesses, cocaine, no teeth and millions of dollars. I have Kelly, teeth and tens of dollars. You tell me. Why is chicke nmeth so addictive, especially among online poker players?A bit of history, Chicken meth was introduced in Arkansas by Jeremy Allen. Its a combination of meth, chicken shit and feathers. It gives one the ability to 5bet shove 73o into AA and see a 773 flop. Or at least thats what chicken meth benders will trick your mind into seeing. On the evolutionary poker scale, where would you place IBGPN?I would place him at the bottom of the scale. Somewhere between a single celled organism and tadpole. While he can swim with the sharks, hes often overlooked as his bank roll rarely goes above the $1 mark. His most frequent sightings have the word (OBSERVER) after his name. I just had a cup of tea and a grilled cheese sandwich. Comments? You must be gay or British.

Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Mike McDonald Talks Epic Poker League Win
October 20 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Amanda Musumeci Discusses WSOP Main Event Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Olivier Busquet Discusses Tough Spots Strategy with Kristy Podcast Part 2 with Tommy Angelo Related Tournaments Related Players Share It Tags Epic Poker League, Erik Seidel, EPT, Michael McDonald, Poker Strategy, PokerNews Podcast Print Mike Timex McDonald is only 22 but has already accumulated more than $4 million in live and online tournament winnings. At 18, he became the youngest PokerStars European Poker Tour winner when he took down the EPT German Open for $1.4 million. Recently, he won the second Epic Poker League Main Event for $782,000. In this edition of Strategy with Kristy, McDonald discusses his EPL win and strategy at each stage of the tournament. Here is a snippet from the interview: What Im doing at the table, is pretty much, any hand I see where someone shows down a hand or plays a hand that I think is nonstandard, I try to think about what that means for their whole range, and also what strategies I can try and employ to exploit that. When I get to a final table, Ill kind of take that to the next level and be as precise as possible in my reads. What I actually did here [before the EPL final table] is, at final tables or any televised final table where they are updating every hand, Ill typically have a friend, usually a smaller stakes player, basically build a live HUD [heads-up display] for me. When you play online, you can have a HUD and know things like, this guy opens 80 percent of buttons or this guy opens 30 percent of buttons. Really, even within 70 or 100 hands, you can get a decent amount of information on players. So, Ill often get a friend of mine and just pay them $100 or something like that, to create a HUD of my final table to tell me whos doing what. Ill look at what stats stand out the most. The one thing they commented on was that Erik Seidel plays way more hands than anyone else did at the final table, which of course could be related to sample size. But the other thing was that he doesnt check-fold very often. He usually checked with the intention of not giving up on the flop, but instead to sometimes check-raise or check-call. What that means against a player like that is when he c-bets [continuation bets], hes substantially lighter than most people because with a lot of his top-pair, no-kicker or second-pair, good-kicker type hands, he will often just be check-calling or check-raising. Since we know he almost never check-folds, anytime he has air, hes always c-betting or at least more than most players would. A lot of players give him tons of respect and fold to his c-bets but realistically, if you want to perfectly take advantage a player like him, you really need to attack him when hes betting at pots. Its an extremely tough thing to do though, especially combined with the fact that Erik Seidel is a good hand reader. Hes extremely good at live poker, and hes probably going to be very good at guessing the times youre raising a gut shot or when youre raising a set. But, if you assume hes never going to soul read you, then what I posted on my blog is fairly accurate, but theres a very good chance that Erik Seidel will just soul-read you.
